There is perhaps no sneakerhead more well known in the NBA than Lifetime Longhorn PJ Tucker. Night in and night out, Tucker is always the subject of conversation on Instagram posts and sneaker blogs, as the former UT basketball player routinely dons shoes that are rare, unique, and sometimes one-of-a-kind. Last Sunday’s Texas sized match up against the Dallas Mavericks was no exception, and PJ used this stage to showcase his roots with a pair of “Texas” Zoom KD IVs.
Seemingly taking a cue from Kevin Durant himself, who recently wore a different pair of burnt orange KDs, PJ Tucker couldn’t have picked a more classic Texas shoe if he tried. Burnt orange upper, white accents, and a Longhorn logo on the tongue; these three features are what make the “Texas” KD IV the quintessential University of Texas sneaker. They don’t have any other gimmicks or crazy branding because they don’t need them, and this simplicity is what makes these Durant 4s a coveted classic among both UT sneakerheads and KD collectors.
With KD and PJ leading the charge for Texas sneakers on the NBA hardwood, hopefully other former Texas players take note and pay homage to their college days as well. What other Texas kicks do you want to see worn as the regular season winds down? Let us know down below.
