Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 36 Texas Available Now in Men’s and Women’s Sizes

One of the most celebrated running shoe lines in the world gets the “Week Zero” treatment.

After multiple leaks, we now have official information and pictures regarding the 2019 “Week Zero” Texas Football sneaker. This year, male and female Longhorn fans can grab gender exclusive colorways of the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 36 Texas, which feature UT specific branding and the ever classic burnt orange color. This year’s collegiate sneaker marks the first time Nike has released a running shoe model before the start of football season, as the brand has gone with training shoes for each of the past five “Week Zero” releases.

Both the men’s and women’s Pegasus 36 Texas feature UT branding throughout the upper, with the Longhorn logo being displayed prominently on the tongue and the lateral side of the heel. The “Hook’em Horns” slogan is written in white on the burnt orange insole of each pair, adding an extra school specific touch. The main difference between the two shoes lies in their colors, with the men’s pair featuring a classic burnt orange upper with anthracite (dark grey) accents, while the women’s edition sports a more subtle pewter grey upper with a white midsole. Each UT Pegasus also comes with an extra pair of laces; anthracite for the men’s shoe and grey for the women’s.

The revelation that the previously leaked grey Texas Pegasus 36 was made exclusively in women’s sizes will likely disappoint some men (myself included). However, for those who wear a men’s size 10.5 or smaller there is still hope, due to the 1.5-size difference between men’s and women’s sizing. This means that a men’s size 10.5 is roughly equivalent to a women’s size 12, and as such any men below this size cutoff should still be able to grab their preferred shoe size in the grey pair with minimal effort. Nike and women’s shoes generally tend to run narrower than other athletic brands, so if you have wide feet and are considering getting the grey colorway it would be a good idea to try on a women’s pair of Pegasus 36s at a local retailer before making your purchase.

The Pegasus line itself is the all-time best-selling running shoe line in the world, and is one of Nike’s flagship silhouettes. Like many of the Pegasus that came before it the 36 features excellent cushioning, due to its full-length Nike Zoom Air unit and Cushlon ST foam midsole. The shoe also features a Flymesh upper for enhanced breathability and support. Cushioned, durable, and well-rounded can all be used to describe the Pegasus line, and this year’s edition of the shoe is no different.

What do you do you think of these UT runners? Did Nike get it right with this release, or should they have made both colorways available for purchase in all sizes?
