Plenty of players this season have been taking full advantage of the NBA’s new relaxed color restrictions on sneakers, but Kevin Durant may have just outdone them all. Perhaps wanting to show support for his former college team, the Lifetime Longhorn broke out a pair of burnt orange Texas KD 11s for Golden State’s cross divisional game against the Sacramento Kings. Durant scored 28 points and recorded 7 blocks in a 125-123 Warriors victory against a potential playoff foe.
The most striking feature of these Zoom KD 11s is the all burnt orange Flyknit upper, which marks the first time that the color has been used in conjunction with Flyknit technology on a Nike shoe. A Longhorn logo is also stitched on to the heel counter on the left shoe, while Durant’s usual “KD” logo occupies the same spot on the right sneaker.
Currently, these Longhorn KDs remain player exclusives for Kevin Durant and the University of Texas Basketball teams. While there is still no word from Nike on if these burnt orange 11s will see a public release, between Durant himself wearing them on court and March Madness quickly approaching the odds seem better and better that the general public will get a chance to own a pair.
