As we inch closer and closer to the start of the 2019 college football season, images of another pair of Texas Nike Pegasus 36s have surfaced ahead of their official release date. Like the first pair of UT Pegasus 36s, which leaked back in May, these runners feature the Longhorn logo placed on the heel and the “Hook”Em Horns” slogan on the insole. This is where the similarities between the two end, as the new pair features a completely burnt orange upper with a matching burnt orange Swoosh, as well as an anthracite midsole, tongue, and collar.

According to Eastbay.com, these Texas sneakers will be releasing in Men’s sizes alongside the other NCAA Pegasus 36s on July 22th for $130. It has also been reported that certain Academy Sports + Outdoors stores have been selling the shoes early, namely a store located in San Antonio, TX. Regardless of the release date, it doesn’t look like Longhorn fans will have to wait long to grab themselves a pair.

While it is exciting to see that Nike is seemingly releasing two Texas Pegasus 36s, it does raise the question of the status of the originally leaked grey pair. One likely possibility is that the grey pair will be only released in women’s sizes, as each of the last two seasons has seen Nike launch a UT sneaker for the ladies. Another, although less likely, explanation is that certain “elite” football programs will be getting two pairs of Pegasus to celebrate the start of the season, with one colorway being grey and the other being predominantly being a school color (such as burnt orange or green). Nike could have also decided to cancel the release of the grey colorway and opted to go with the more Texas appropriate burnt orange pair. While possible, this explanation is very unlikely, as multiple schools have been shown to be getting two Pegasus 36s, and stock images would likely not have been made if the sneakers were not going to release in some capacity.Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 36 Texas Longhorns Week Zero UT 3

What are your thoughts on this new pair of Texas Pegasus 36s? Does the burnt orange take them to the next level, or do you prefer the subtlety of the original grey pair?
