These Texas themed Free X Metcon 2s sport a potentially controversial black and dark grey upper, paired with burnt orange accents. Branding wise, the word “Longhorns” is written on the lateral side of each sneaker, while the Longhorn logo printed on the insole.

This pair of Free X Metcon 2s are the first pair of Longhorn training shoes Nike has sold since the UT Free TR 8 released in 2018. The model combines the flexibility of Nike’s Free line with the durability of a Metcon, to create a training sneaker that can hold up to the riggers of high intensity training. Flex grooves in the forefoot allow the foot to move naturally, providing flexibility for activities like running and jumping. The foam midsole is comprised of a firm foam carrier for comfortable cushioning where you need it, as well as the stability needed for heavy weightlifting.

The Nike Free X Metcon is available now from Nike.com and the University Co-op for $130. Will you be picking up a pair of these UT trainers to support the Horns in the Alamo Bowl?
