These cleats are a Photoshop, however Texas Football has since collaborated with KD to create special cleats for the 2019 Alamo Bowl. Click here to learn more.
The Longhorns will soon have a new kicks to add to their arsenal to finish out the 2018 football season, in the form of the KD 11 cleats. The cleats feature the upper of the currently player exclusive KD 11 Texas set on top of what appears to be a carbon “V Plate“, a setup that is often seen on most of Nike’s top end vapor speed cleats. The cleats were leaked yesterday by Kevin Durant himself on his Instagram story.
Provided this isn’t an incredibly well done photoshop I still can’t believe that Nike actually went through with creating a Kevin Durant and Texas Longhorn cleat. Signature basketball shoes making the transition from sneakers into cleats is something that has been gaining traction for a while now, with it being most commonly seen with the multiple LeBron Soldier cleats that Ohio State has worn throughout the last three seasons. Given UT’s unique relationship with KD, as well as their status as a tier one Nike school, this something that appears to be an easy layup for all parties involved.
I’ve been asking for a pair of Texas Longhorn X Kevin Durant cleats for a couple of years now, and I’m glad that Nike finally made them a reality. No word on whether or not these will be available to the public, but if they are made available it will likely be as a quick strike type release on the Nike app.
What do you think about the KD 11 Texas cleats? Would they be an instant purchase if they dropped, or should Nike just stop playing and release the basketball version of the shoes instead?
